Hydronic Heating
Underfloor heating involves the installation of pipework in the floor, so that the whole floor acts like a radiator, silently warming the room from the ground up.

The pipework is concealed within the floor and is filled with warm water that can be powered by a boiler fuelled by gas, diesel or wood or an air-to-water or geothermal heat pump.
Radiator Heating
Warm water circulates through a closed network of pipes, carrying heat from the heat source to the radiators.
Radiators silently emit this comfortable heat to warm up surrounding objects and air. Each radiator is fitted with a self-regulating thermostatic radiator valve (TRV), which adjusts the flow of water into a radiator depending on the setting. Each room can be set to a different temperature giving you great flexibility and control.
It is not uncommon to have a combination of both radiators and underfloor heating in a home.

Solid Fuel Heating - Wet Back Hot Water Heating
Wetback systems use the firebox to transfer heat into the hot water cylinder. These systems uses the fire place to heat the water rather than the element to reduce your energy costs.

Wetback systems generally work best in to water heating in colder climates where a lot of space heating is used and provide most of the household’s hot water requirements. Set up and position of the cylinder and equipment is critical to performance and efficiency of the hot water,
The hot water cylinder should be installed as close as possible to the heat source. Some systems use an electric pump to circulate the water, allowing the cylinder to be placed further away from the heat source. In these systems, open venting is required. All wet back systems will come with electric back up elements that override the system when then the fire in not in use. Wet Back hot water units can be extremely efficient in the right scenario contributing to both hot water delivery and room household heating requirements.
For year-round efficiency – Just add solar hot water to your wet back!
Wetbacks can be a good match with a solar water heater where you use the solid fuel burner as your main heating source. The solar unit heats the water during the summer months and the wetback during winter. The main attractions: super-efficient use.
A solar wet back system can also use a hot water panel on the roof to heat the water. A small pump circulates this water back to the tank. It a free source of heating and works well in the warmer months.
All units will come with electric back up elements that override the system when then the fire or the solar are not in full use. A solar wet back can save on average upto 2/3 of the hot water heating costs, they can be a very efficient way to keep your hot water and your home warm.
HRV (Heat Recovery & Ventilation systems)
-
Reduce energy > Clean stale air and recover heat for a healthier, dryer, warmer more comfortable home
-
Balanced pressure (also known as heat exchanger) ventilation systems extract warm, damp air from living spaces and pass it through a heat-exchanger to heat up dry air, which the system brings in from outside. This can fully meet Building Code requirements. They work best in modern homes and don’t have the same unintended cooling effect as positive pressure systems, so choose a balanced pressure system if your home is well-sealed.
